The new Hydros fly-fishing reel is the result of a commitment to making something great even better. Orvis took a best-selling reel and removed unnecessary material to reduce weight while stiffening the narrow spool, minimizing line stacking. The drag knob was redesigned for improved ergonomic accessibility and comfort. The seal on the sealed drag was further refined to better protect the clutch bearing within the drag mechanism. Like the Mirage, the reel foot is now radiused for kink-free leader protection. The sealed drag, featuring stacked carbon and stainless steel disc washers, remains one of the strongest in the industry, offering zero start-up inertia.
With a matte type II anodized finish, standard large arbor size for better balance with lighter-weight fly rods, and enhanced retrieval rates with reduced line coiling compared to standard arbor reels, the Hydros reflects true refinement and performance. Available in matte black with silver accents or matte silver with charcoal accents.
